@jonniey Also, read some of the stuff in here-other people are struggling with some of the same issues-you are not alone.

Sorry your not feeling well, as you said your high because your not taking enough insulin and afraid of hypos, if you get your insulin to carb ratio correct then you should have good control over your blood glucose level, high blood glucose readings will cause damage over time, have you spoken to your DSN or your GP?
 
@jonniey You've had a lot of suggestions on your other threads. I'd be interested to know what you think are your main problems - in a numbered list maybe - and how you plan to tackle them.

If there's anything you're unsure about, then we can make suggestions and tell your our experiences
 
I'm struggling to find exact amount of humalog I need per carb also when I exercise my sugar is all over the place. And my carb counting knowledge is not great that's why I try to stick to the food I know like bread.
 
My basal insulin 13 and 6 seems fine.....but the humalog not so certain. Also my basal insulin went up by 2 units since iv been a couch potato from 2016- 15 December.
 
@jonniey there is an online course on carb counting that should take you through how to figure out your insulin to carb ratio - http://www.bertieonline.org.uk

The job of your basal is to keep you steady when not taking on bolus or carbs. You can test whether it's doing its job with a basal test - https://mysugr.com/basal-rate-testing/

You might also want to look at your insulin sensitivity factor to figure out how much 1 unit drops you by so you can know where you are with correction doses.
 
1 unit humalog drops my blood sugar between 3 and 5....im better at correcting then taking the correct amount before I eat the carbs also my basal drops my sugar abit, it seems correct for my lazy @ss as of late since im on holiday.
 
It's great you've identified your problems @jonniey Now all you have to do is solve them. Not as easy as it sounds, I kmow, but @catapillar has put the two most useful links above.

Start with your basal - checking that's right.

Then move on to looking at your meal ratios.

Basal is the foundation of control, and with that right you can get your meal time ratios good. It'll take time, but you'll get there
 
Is 2 to 4 litres diet coke/day really that bad?
 
How are your sugar's are you mainly in target most of the time....and what insulin do you use and in what amounts??
 
I also always feel hungry wish I could eat like the healthy people....but I eat like the beggars. Because of diabetes.

My sugars are good. Like everyone, I get the odd high, but they're largely in range

I have an insulin pump and I use porcine insulin in it. Before that, I used Humalog in it.
 
**** so I have to give up diet coke aswell
iv been drinking it for years aswell as a substitute for water.

Yes. I aim to be below 7.5 after meals, ideally below 6.8 As I said, I do have some higher numbers, like we all do, because illness, etc can affect them. So please don't think I'm perfect. However, I do try for tight control and correct whenever necessary.

My last HbA1C was 32 and it's generally around that figure.
 
It's funny but through all these years with diabetes and a starvation diet and alcohol I seldomly became sick.....but when I did my sugar was through the roof. I think riding helped me alot.
