I've been diabetic for nearly 30 years and for the last 10-15 years I've been high every morning. I always put it down to eating too many carbs the night before but no matter how much I adjust my basal at night it makes no difference. This morning I got up and I was 14.7. Normally I would inject a correction and have breakfast. This morning I injected but didn't have breakfast until an hour later - by then I had dropped to 1.7!!! (feeling slightly wobbly to say the least). I finally believe that this is the dawn phenomenon and nothing that I'm doing wrong. If it wasn't my bg wouldn't have dropped so quickly would it?

I'm getting my pump next week and I really really hope that it helps to sort these highs and lows out once and for all.

Pump will definitely help on this side. You will be able to set different basal according to the time of the day. I have been diabetic for almost 34 years and I had your same issue. Pump has helped me on this side. Stefano

The drop in bg is because you didn't eat after injecting. If your eating too many carbs the night before and go to bed with high readings then it's understandable that you'll wake-up high, however if your going to bed within range and waking up with high bg then it could be down to DP or your basal dose being set too low.
