Hi everybody,
Last night I decided to sit down and watch a Dvd. Oh no popcorn I was being so well behaved, sad being well behaved!
I had lemon chicken breast for evening meal with some yummy salad! My BG was well behaved 2 hours later at 7.1..
Me and my fiancee started watching beverly hills Chihuahua.
All was going well until he went into the kitchen and returned with a large bar of cadburys dairy milk!
I did my best to ignore the chocolate was there! But I could see it and smell it! I carried on trying to ignore! But it started calling to me! Eat me Eat me! I thought no be good ignore it you have the power! Then I thought the chocolate might soothe my sore throat! What a poor excuse for giving in!
I thought one little piece will do no harm... Yes you have it 18 squares later! Feeling sick and dizzy barely able to see except shadows! Yes I did it I ate chocolate!
My Bg had shot up to 22.4... I spent the whole of last night in agony! I had restless legs kicking all night, up and down to the toilet!
This morning my Bg is now 8.2 when I woke up!
I have learnt my lesson I will not be doing that one again! It felt so good eating the chocolate when I ate the pieces ! But I have had to pay the price for it!
Oh I still feel sick this morning!

hi sandy or should I say sister,
sorry you felt so bad. I am going to say this even though I am a newbie and I know people are probably going to disagree with me, but here it is. I have been buying Atkins endulge Crispy Milk choclate bars. They taste to me like choclate, a nice little bar, they dont taste like you are making a compromise. for ME, I have had them over the last 3 months and for ME (and I stress) that my bg has only ever gone up 1 mark after having one bar and then my bg has returned to normal. They are 140 calories and 2 carbs. I get mine by post from the low carb megastore. So my suggestion is to buy some stick them in the fridge and then when your partner has something, or when you have a craving they are there, and even to the people who think these bars are too expensive and are suspicoius of them being really 2 carbs, I think it is for sure that they will most certainly be better for you than what 'happened' last night. For me, probably stupid I know, just having them in the fridge makes me happier and feel less sort of sorry for myself, and I have managed to just have one sometimes now and again every few days or one a day sometimes, but I have managed to not ever binge on them and you feel quite clever to have one and keep control of bg. I dont know if Im supposed to say this, but I kinda hope you at least try them and at least do testing like 1 and 2 and 3 hrs later. hope this helps and if I have made any 'forum' mistakes here, apologies.

Hi Sandy
It wasn't very fair of him to bring in that chocolate
Get yoursself some of the 85% cocoa solids chocolate and keep it in the fridge for when the temptation strikes.
At least the fat in chocolate modifies how you use the sugar. It's better than popcorn really.

Hi Red Or sis
Thank you for your advice and thoughts,
I will give the atkins bar a go! I was fine until i saw it in front of me! Wish i had not eaten it now! But i did! you havenot made any forum mistakes and no need to say sorry!
I just fancied a treat! They say a little you fancy does you good! Well i can account that alot of it does you harm!...Lol
I just couldnot help it! It tasted so yummy after a piece or two! I have been going without chocolate! MY fiancee feels guilty as he can eat chocolate etc and i can't!
Oh but the film was good and for the film i forgot i was diabetic! I thought maybe i had lost it! that i had woken up from my sleep! Nope i still have it!
Don't have all my marbles, Do us a favour Red if you find my marbles can i ahve a couple back....Lol
Hanadr
I can usually fight the urge for choclate usually i am sat in my chair when he eats it! But after all that has gone off i was curled up on the sofa with him watching the film! This is why i think the urge took over for chocolate!
I am feeling better now, Got a foul head and sore throat! But other than that i am okay! Just have to remember to get some more of the green and blacks in as well, I like the white one,But that is the poroblem i end up eating two squares instead of one!
that is okay when Bg is down but not any other time!

Hi Sandy,

Don't beat yourself up - I'm sure everyone falls 'off the wagon' occasionally. Personally, I can't have chocolate in the house at all because I know that on a low day I would be very tempted so I just go for the cheese instead! Or the macadamia nuts (why are these so addictive?)

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Rita

Hi Rita,
Oh don't get me started on those nuts, I bought a 60gram tub!
And ate the lot! Oh they are so addictive once you start!
Oh yummy or what! Oh no now i want nuts, I can't eat much cheese as i am allergic to milk! I can eat about 4 thin slices of cheese! And that is it! I like catherdral city but i could eat it all but i know i can't! I also like elemental i think that is how you spell it! It is yummy cheese!
Sandy

Sandy,

Maybe me, you and Samcogle should start a 'Macadamia Anonymous' club - she's addicted too! I try to limit myself to 150grams a week but am failing miserably.

I try to limit myself but then i will sneak off with a bag and eat them out in the garden! I bought a large tub two weeks ago from a heath food shop!
Oh in less than 2 days i had eaten them all! Finished them all! Oh yummy! I have none in! oh what i would give right now for a bag!
Oh right now yummy! Yes i am addicted to them!

As far as I can see there is nothing wrong with eating Macadamia nuts.
