Hi everbody,
even though i have been unwell through bad tooth etc!
Today i have managed to do 10 sit-up's each sit up holded for 10 seconds, 10 leg lifts and managed to do 10 stand to bend to my toes!
I know it does not sound alot, But for me at the minute that is a big step!
Today my blood sugar has not gone above 9. Before exercise, 7.8, After the exercise 6.2!
Wow that is the best yet with my blood sugar! i know i havenot eaten alot these past two days because of being unwell! But i think that i have done well!
I told my mum about the exercise and she said that i was being silly! I should not bother exercising! She moans about me low carbing! She is type 1 and i am type 2!
i am doing my best to try and make myself better! But she has made me feel so bad right now!
Every tuesday wensday thursday, and every other saturday i try to g out and take a long walk as i can, but with the inhalers etc, it can take it out of me!
I am doing my hardest, been tempted to step off the low carb wagon so far managed to be able to fight it!
I am trying so hard but at the minute everything is against me! My ankles give way after walking for a certain amount of time! My feet get very swollen up after walking! I get pains in my knees when i walk to far! The knee pain is down to health problems!
I am trying my hardest to lose weight! I have been looking into healthy low carb easy snacks to be able just to grab if i am busy!
Sorry to whitter on!

Well done on the exercising, I'm probably the age of your Mum but totally disagree about the value of exercise. In my opinion its crucial in BG control. I think cardio is quite important though so the walking is important, I know quite a few people with asthma that use their inhaler before exercise, take care with the knees , as you lose weight it should be easier. I've had cartilidge ops so have to be careful but as long as I do exercises for my quaadriceps I'm OK (cross fingers)http://www.thephysiotherapysite.co.uk/physiotherapy/exercise/simple-knee-exercises
Take care with touching your toes when cold, its better to warm up and then gradually curl down (hard to describe but if you stand against the wall, gradually detatch each veterbra lean downwards, bending your knees if necessary)
I've been working on this program as a challenge for ab muscles. It starts from wherever you are with the aim of doing 200 situps. http://www.twohundredsitups.com/

Hi phoenix.
Thank you for your kind words! My mum is 75!
She says that exercising is not important! I think it is important! I will remember that about the back! I am trying my hardest!
My mum says that she can just adjust her insulin and eat what ever she wants! At the minute i am on no meds for diabetes!
i want to try and keep it that way if i can! If not then i am not willing to give up trying!
I am trying my hardest in every way! thank you for your kind words!

Sandy , I added a bit more (OK I'm a bit younger than your Mum, I'm 57!)

Hi phoenix,
That is great just been and looked it is great given me lots of ideas! I will take it one day at a time!
It is great that i could get such great advice!

Sandy, I think you are doing marvellously!! I do two rotations of 10 leg lifts, 10 sit ups every night and it is hard!! I am about as unfit as you can get - never did sports at school and never really exercised in my life, so this is a whole new ball-game for me!!

SO GOOD to know that there are others out there trying the same thing!!

Good work! See the results!

I just went on one of my hunter gathering trips downtown. Because of other commitments I went straight there and back, often I will go round the long way. Then I have two compost bins that need digging out, stirring round and refilling. By then the lawn will need mowing again. Then I'll need to do some more weeding and planting. After that the hedge will need trimming and some things will need pruning.

I find I can get quite a lot of exercise just from "doing stuff" (I didn't even mention the housework)

Meanwhile mother (93) went for a walk round the block, which involves going downhill and up again, and into a fierce headwind that nearly blew another neighbour over. Every little helps!

I'm with Mark Sisson

http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-blueprint-101/

move slowly a lot, move fast occasionally with bursts of hard exertion

hmmm why am I sat here then? Well I'm doing stuff on my other box, and I just stuffed my face with lamb chops and broccoli and strawberries and a little too much red wine. Shortly I might go for a fast walk round the block, then get the vacuum cleaner out again

It's terribly sad but I suspect your mother might not be so bad off now if she'd done this sort of stuff when she was able. :(

Hi Alice,
I must admit, Last night i managed 12 sit ups, I was proud of myself, But i have twisted my ankle!
Went shopping forgot to put sunglasses on stepped out of car and tripped over the kerb! Foot is up like a balloon!
Hi Trinkwasser,
I do keep trying to do different things, The odd walk here and there, and take some time doing different things while doing something else! I have got my two tomato plants to pot on tomorrow and a some grass cutting, Nope can't do that on wensday, as help my fiancee he drives a load of old folk i mean 90 plus to town so they can do their shopping on and off all day!
I give him a hand by helping him escorting them on and off the mini bus!

Been diagnosed almost 3 years type 2, and at 51 have a substantial amount of Arthrithis :o in my knees and hips. (right knee already operated on). Got prescribed Metformin 1 year ago and the dose was put up to 850 mg twice a day quite quickly (couple of months). When measuring my BG it was showing no change what so ever. So I decided that I would try exercise and not get put on more tablets, as my quack seems to like doling them out. So joined a gym :!: best decision I ever made I can see my BG drop after a session. My program is tailored made to me and my Arthrithis and it has even helped that. The hard part is maintaining it but the results are worth it. So please do keep on doing your exercise and ignore your mum. Mum's aren't always right as my daughter keeps telling me.

Hi Falcon,
Maybe your daughter felt like treating you for being a good mum to her! Or maybe she just felt like it! Maybe it is her way of showing you that she does love you! And that you were right even though she does not admit it!
