If you are seriously low in vitamin D, then that won't help your depression http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/depression-vitamin-d-deficiency-lack-study-severity-mental-health-effects-a7369781.html Are you saying that your doctor is prescribing you Vit D, or are you doing that yourself ? Either way, are you taking D3, a form some believe to be more effective. Are your levels not increasing ? I supplement with D3 myself. My daughter was recently found to be very low, but put on a ridiculously low dose by her GP (800 I.U.) I suggested a levelof 5000 I.U. which isn't far from the dose in these studies http://www.nutraingredients-usa.com/Research/Vitamin-D2-vs-D3-Same-for-boosting-D-levels-but-D3-superior-for-sustaining-levels Worth looking into Geoff
