I feel very strongly about this.
I think babies should be tested at birth like thyroid test for insulin resistance.
I know it's pushed as a lifestyle injury but I'm convinced some are born with it. They need help immediately to prevent diabetes and illness which contribute to obesity.
I'd take this as far as I can if I received support.

Hi, that's a good question. My daughter, like all new born babies are tested for thyroid and was clear. At 7 she had blood tests confirming higher tsh levels, but was border line, so no medication was given. Now she is being tested again, as a teenager. So regarding diabetes, would it work ? Also, like most things in the NHS, it could be down to the cost ?

It would be down to cost but the thyroid test came about because mentally impaired children and adults were costing the nhs their resources.
Look how much the nhs would save on fertility investigations due to pcos if insulin resistance is court early enough to treat with metformin/diet and exercise.
Mind you most kids run around and burn off their excess energy. I'm not sure how young metformin is suitable for?
Bell's palsy is another afliction preventable, rupturing appendix I'm unsure as removal has always been the remedy.
Hypothyroidism is detectable but heal prick and as you've mentioned retested if any concerns.
A lot can go wrong if insulin resistance is not managed medically. Autoimmune detection would be very very beneficial for type1s. Red book check!
Insulin resistance comes before pre-diabetes. What are we waiting for? Are we waiting for the red book to be involved too? Maybe all diabetes should be looked for at red book stage!
