Hello, I took 1000mg Metformin after my dinner but then realised I might have already had them but couldn't remember so I may have had 2000mg with my dinner.
I also took 1000mg after my late lunch earlier.
I stupidly googled the effects if I take too many and now I am scared something bad is going to happen. I am currently in NZ so cannot call NHS 111.
I suffer with health related anxiety too so am really really worried. Is what I did life threatening?

Metformin is not one of those drugs that are panic inducing. Let nature take its course. It will make its way out of your system eventually, although you may see a white blob in the toilet bowl which is normal (metformin makes a spongelike matrix that grabs glucose in the gut as it journeys to the exit. this is normally white) Obviously an overdose is not something that would be recommended, and you may experience some gastric discomfort and extra flatulence but should not be harmful in the longer term. It will not lower your sugar levels any more than the standard dose since it does not work that way.
