Hi mand56. Bottom line (I know cos Ive just been through it!) Many GPs do not know LADA exists. They work on the basis that you can only be a type 1 if you are under 25 and if you are older than 25 you must be a type 2. This is not because their are cr*p doctors, its because they are GPs - GENERAL Practitioners so unless they have chosen to take a specialist interest in something, their knowledge is generalised to cover anything that walks through the door! Go back to your GP TOMORROW - phone at 8.30 am, request an urgent appointment for tomorrow and if they say no tell them you require a home visit (you will at least get to speak to the doctor), tell your GP that you want an urgent referral to a Diabetes Consultant, make sure you get his name - urgent referrals should be seen within two weeks. If you get symptoms that worry or scare you whilst you are waiting - phone an ambulance and go back to a & e. Keep in touch to let us know how you are doing, Sue xxxx
