I want to come off my medication.

That's awesome!!! It's always good to hear success stories. I'm even happier you found a doctor who understands the importance of natural solutions to diabetic issues. Kudos to him!!! Have you ever performed a medical detox? That has usually been the key to many of my patients ability to maintain a blood glucose level between 95-105. If not, I am more than happy to recommend a few.

@FunctionalMedDoc I've attended three online summits over the last few months, and have learned a lot, but I honestly don't know what a "medical detox" is, or what it does. If you have the time, I'd love it if you'd talk a little bit about it here so we can all benefit.

What is it?

How does it improve our health?

Are their any risks?

I don't think we're allowed to market services or products here, but should be okay to give us some basic information. :)

Absolutely!!!

A medical detox, unlike a lot of detox products you see on the internet or Groupon etc., is a detox you can only buy from a licensed healthcare professional through an online pharmacy. The focus of a medical detox is to remove toxins from your body using lab grade supplements. The detox should focus on 1) removing the toxins we are exposed to on a daily basis ((remember toxins are stored in your adipose (fatty) tissue)) 2) provide some sort of supplement/medicinal that will provide protein and aid in the breakdown of such protein ((this is something 99% of detox products don't do)) and 3)) prepare the toxins that are being broken down in the liver for passage out of your system ((unless you have an effective way to brake down and package for removal you are not getting them all)). Lastly, let me add that a detox should not be calorie restrictive nor should it be liquid alone. Most Liquid detoxes simply aid in the removal of fecal matter from your digestive track which subsequently causes a decrease in weight. Unfortunately, it will usually irritate the lining of your stomach which is why you will have to transition back into solid foods. The reason it helps with blood sugar levels is because it causes your liver to implement gluconeogenesis also to remove sugar stores thereby providing a place for any sugar you do have circulating to store. There are other mechanisms too lengthy to get into. I hope that makes sense.
As much as I would like to suggest a product to you (( the same product I recommend and provide for my patients)) I don't want my information to be seen as a solicitation to buy a specific product. I hope this helps!!! Your healthcare professional may know of products like this :-)

The LCHF diet is ketogenic, so many of us have already lost our liver fat. When you say, the "supplement/medicinal...will provide protein and aid in the breakdown of such protein", I don't understand. What protein would I be breaking down and why would I want to do that? I appreciate you taking the time to clarify this. :)

LCHF diet will indeed, over time, help with visceral fat. I place my patients on a Ketogenic diet after the detox. As far as the protein interaction I mentioned.. This detox requires you to drink a shake. The shake, among other things, contains protein. Along with the shakes you will take a packet of capsules. The capsules aid in the breakdown of the protein you've just ingested. This is there because the majority of protein taken orally will pass through your system unabsorbed. The ingredients in the capsules break down protein so that it is absorbed readily. Does that make sense? So basically, the reason you would perform a whole body detoxification is because you want to detox your liver and restore its optimal function so that when you decide to begin a ketogenic diet your body will be better able to break down toxins for better removal from the body. Remember toxins are fat soluble :-)

Ah, got it. The product is not breaking down my protein in my body, rather it's breaking down the protein I ingested so it's better absorbed. Thank you. :)
