Hi I have been diagnosed with T2 for 7 days now. Hba1c was 6.7 with lots of symtoms.
Gp has started me on metformin once a day and I have been having a go at the LCHF diet for about 2 weeks now. I have lost 4lbs. I maybe have a slice of burgen bread or a tablespoon of rice but very rarely.
I have been picking up ideas off the forum and found it really helpful.
My fasting glucose is down from 9.5 to 6.7 and I feel better and nearly symptom free but I'd like to get it lower.
Any tips on managing diabetes would be much appreciated.
Hi, @jonbvn very little exercise is being done, or been done for 12mths, which is not good.
The better I feel, the more weight i lose, I'm hoping to get out again.
I was diagnosed with pre diabetes 2 yrs ago. I did LCHF, daily dog walks, loved regular bike riding( got up to 15miles) and joined a beginners running club. Got bored with LCHF joined slimming world. fell off the waggon.
18mths later piled loads of weight on and have been unhappy and feeling unwell for mths, sob just walking up the stairs and just walking sometimes.
So finally took myself to gp knowing the diagnosis of diabetes and asthma was inevitable. Confirmed asthma and T2.
Need a kick start! I suppose just a walk every day and slowly build up.
Hi. Keep up with the low-carb diet. Don't worry too much about your fasting test as it can be affected by the overnight liver dump. Use the 2 hour post-meal readings as a more useful guide.
