Listenned to this very interesting and very respected chap Sir Iain Chalmers on Jim Al-Khalili's 'The Life Scientific' program on Radio 4 yesterday morning as I was driving down to London.

The guy seems to have spent much of his life analysing the data behind many medical conclusions and then ripping them to shreds. He's a great believer in "Listen to what your patient is saying". Well worth a listen (d/l the podcast from http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/tls). Was thinking of emailing the institution he was a founder of "The Cochrane Collaboration" to see if they had ever investigated Type 2 diabetes care.

Thank you, loads of reading material!

its a shame that the whole "Listen to what any patient is saying" approach is regarded is as wholly useless. thanks for the links though, all of you.
