Re the E-mail about IBS, after suffering with IBS for several years, while on holiday in spain I was told about Aloe Vera Juice and that it could help. I tried it and it did!! 2 Years ago I started again with IBS & was given "OIL" capsules by the Doc who told me this was the best treatment. I persevered for about 18 months but without effect so I went back to Aloe Vera Juice and once again I am fine, no IBS. This may not work for everyone but it certainly did for me. Hope this may help somebody else.

Here's another thought on the matter --

I was having IBS symptoms just over a year ago and it was found to be a vitamin B12 deficiency caused by metformin. The treatment is B12 and calcium. The calcium is necessary to allow your body to use the B12 because that's the part of the absorbtion process that metformin disrupts. Some people have a genetic predisposition to B12 deficiency and will have it whether they take metformin or not. And it's often confused with IBS.

Aloe Vera juice contains calcium and vitamin B12. It may be that your IBS is really a vitamin deficiency that has been misdiagnosed considering that a conventional IBS treatment didn't work but Aloe Vera juice has helped.

Hi Christine I go to Holland & Barrett and buy the aloe vera juice preferably without cranberries (too sweet for me). Look out for their offers like buy 1 get another for just 1p. Then I usually get at least 4 bottles . Got to save where we can!!! Hope it helps you.

I was diagnosed with IBS a few years before I became type 1. A few sessions with the dietician for basic lessons on carb content helped the ibs enormously. I started eating consistent meal content instead of eating the ****** diet on a rotating shift pattern responsible for much of my problems. Removing oranges and nuts also helped and I use Buscopan tablets now on the few occasions cramps flare up.
