Has anyone noticed whether Ibuprofen has any effect on their blood sugars?
I have just waken from a great nights sleep, with my morning test @4.3 which
is about 0.5 lower than normal.

What I ate yesterday, along with the level of exercise could easily account for the levels
but I always seem to have a great sleep on the odd occasion I take Ibuprofen as I go
to bed. So it just got me wondering, as I never considered an over the counter pain
killer may effect me slightly different due to my diabetes.

Dunno but I've been taking a lot of ibuprofen on a daily basis (prescribed by doc) and I have a feeling it causes a rise!!

?? My GP and DN both told me not to take NSAI e.g. Ibuprofen?

Is it OK to take if diabetic??

Did they say why?

yes, both said it was too dangerous for diabetics as risk to kidneys which were already under strain as diabetic.
Also checked with pharmacist who also said NSAI are not recommended.

I would rarely take them pre-diagnosis but could do with some right now as pulled a muscle in shoulder :(

I would normally avoid taking Ibuprofen but was advised that it would have been the best for the tooth ache
I was suffering from. This was after highlighting I was on no other meds and my BS was well controlled and low.

I have read some more on the subject since posting my question and it would seem that it is
a no no and they do indeed have the potential to temporarily lower BS and also risk damage
to the kidneys if you are already experiencing issues.

OMG! I've been taking loads for months on prescription!

The only thing I was warned about was stomach ulcers so take a liner daily and haven't had any issues. I asked to change and she put me on gabapentin but told me to continue with the ibuprofen.

I'm only prediabetic though so I wonder if that makes a difference?
