Hi all,

I've just got a simple question really. Is ibuprofen ok if you're T1? Is there anything to be concerned about. I would appreciate some advice.

Thanks

Can't say I've ever been warned off it, or had any problems with it. Others may have a different point of view.

I'm not aware of any problems. With insulin, the leaflets advise being a bit careful with aspirin but I've seen nothing about ibuprofen.

Great! I'll monitor my BG closely anyway. I didn't know about aspirin, so thank you for letting me know

Hi @catherinecherub,

The link you sent was useful to know. I don't have any of the conditions listed beyond diabetes, but with persistent poor health at the moment, I will check with the doctor before taking more than one dose.

Thanks

I was taking ibruprofen 600 mg after my hip replacement op and a month later when I went to my own GP for another perscription she was horrified I was still taking it as I was already on clopidogrel a blood thinner . Told me to stop immediately and prescribed paracetamol 1000 mg which didn't help at all.

If you are taking Asprin and Clopidogrel you should be very careful as Ibruprofen can cause bleeding in the stomach

Don't know about affects on diabites, but if the wife takes it her skin falls off .. Quite literley .. He hands and lower legs start to peal skin and it falls away leaving big open patches with no skin . On the plus side once we realised what was causing this to happen and she stopped taking it .. The skin returned quite quickly. Some posh hand creams also have the same effect .. So maybe it's just the wife !
I think it's like a chemical peel that some folk have for a face lift .. Only this is on hands and legs
