Not sure if this deserves a full thread and the concept has been discussed elsewhere, but thought I would share my experience.
Today I went to a spa for a back massage that my wife had bought me as a gift.
I filled in the forms and declared my T2 status.
The young lady doing the massage discussed my T2 status before starting.
Her working assumption was that I would be testing my BGL and would want to know the effect the treatment would have on my readings.
I was impressed. She is far less qualified than my GP but has a better working understanding of managing T2 day to day. My GP thinks I shouldn’t bother testing.

GP might think you should be testing but won't give you strips and a meter because the cost money. So he/she says don't test.

Just towing the party line. Doctors don't get into trouble if they follow the rules dictated to them by NICE/NHS. They don't seem to be able to think outside the box or for themselves. Some do though.

You might have seen my thread regarding a friend of 30+ years, a GP, now a retired, said I took my condition too seriously. Yep, that's me, no serious complications to date, unlike my old dad who has never taken his diabetes seriously.

Ignorance is bliss, for some !!! What if the doc, or his/her the son, daughter, spouse had T2D?. Would they be recommending no meter readings then??

Well for one thing she is not encumbered with a Medical Degree.
