iGlucose system sends your readings to Big Brother

One more for the week.... PositiveID Corp filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office a non-provisional patent application for its iGlucose system, currently under development, using wireless SMS messaging to automatically communicate a diabetic patient’s blood glucose levels from any data-capable glucose meter to an online database.

This sounds a bit like a stage 2 version of gluconet which was trialled with type 1s on insulin pumps at some French hospitals a few years ago. Patient tests blood, transfers data by infra red port to a palm or moblile phone and sends it to a secure server where it's inserted into an online secure file. The diabetologue can review the readings and provide weekly support by SMS.
The couple of reports I've read seem to been favourable but it's been a while since I've seen anything about it.
