A young adult told my son he doesn't want to have diabetes because he doesn't want to have his limb amputated? Really?! Of all people this particular person would tell that to my 14 yr.old son? He should know better, his parents are medical professionals. For goodness sake! I feel like I could shout on his face and educate him! Good thing my son didn't seem affected by ignorance of this 20 year old kid. My son knows better!

There are entire threads on this board devoted to daft things the civilians have said. It is one of the penalties.

I have spent my time since diagnosis reading up on diabetes and associated medical matters and feel I know a great deal more than I did yet a non diabetic friend of mine who has never studied it persists in offering me advice.

Since your son is unaffected by it there isn't a problem. Annoying though.

But still as a parent sometimes it gets on my nerves when some people talked as if they know everything. It's like if you don't have anything good to say, just don't say anything at all! we've been only months into this and feeding my son negative things about diabetes is I think unfair. Yes, he's aware of complications but do you really have to say it on his face? Hey talk about being a little bit sensitive here!

Some people take great pleasure out of making nasty comments to other people and upsetting them, it says more about them than it does about your and your son, try not to let it upset you all and just give this character a wide-berth next time you see him.

Thank you @noblehead
Unfortunately he is our neighbor, chances of seeing this young lad everyday is like getting rain on a rainy season. But anyway, I'm good
atm, my son is good and that's all what matters i guess.
