When people say 'Pacific' instead of 'Specific' :-)
Hi all, looking for some advice please. I've had a horrible sinus infection for the last week and I've had some horrible highs BG's to go with it. Has anyone else had problems with infections causing highs? Particularly overnight? I have checked and changed pump sets twice so I am confident it's not a tubing or cannular issue. I suspect this is 'normal' it's just never happened to me before!

In times of illness it's not unusual to experience high bg Debloubed, it's a pain in the backside as it throws everything out the window, just remember to check for ketones also.

Thx, I usually go low so this is a bit novel for me! I suspect I have an infection of some kind, usual 'man flu' symptoms don't seem to affect me this way :-(

Yes, defo a good plan. I feel much better today and seem to have a handle on things, am over bolusing (almost double) and am staying around 7/8 so far, following a crazy 20.9 when I woke up! I think also that as I am usually so much more active and just haven't felt up to even walking since I came down with this infection that will have had an impact too. Have fingers crossed these 7's and 8's will continue til bed time! Have plans to set the alarm over night too so I can correct if necessary :-)

Good that your bg levels are now dropping. Just goes to show though that there's more than one way to skin rabbit. The good thing with altering just the bolus is that the effects will most likely only last for about 4-5 hrs whereas altering the basals usually affects all the bg results that happen during the day and not just the following few hours.

Great stuff. I'm having to double up on bolus so far, a strange feeling Tbh!

Good luck with it! It's odd as we train ourselves not to over bolus to avoid lows so its a weird concept ;-) hopefully we will get back to normal before long!

Completely agree with you, doing something we wouldn't normally do, it's a strange feeling! I'm trying to log my BGL, actual Carbs when I eat and units to see what difference there is. And for future reference

Ah, my pump does that for me! But it is handy to know to check for patterns etc. I seem to be stable now so fingers crossed for over night tests :-)
