Dunno. Strange question.
I'm back, folks. It was a very busy six months or so moving countries, but now I'm running a staff weight loss challenge, and I'm determined to kick T2D again. Who's having good results and how is it going? What's your strategy been?

I'm cutting calories, trying to be as paleo as I can, but I do not want to live strictly like that, and so...I'm exercising, using Weight Watchers and Lean Cuisine frozen meals when I'm too tired to cook or just want to ensure I'm adhering to low-cal, doing Nutribullet green smoothies with green tea and very little but spinach/mint leaves/frozen straweberries, lemon, a slice of apple, and flaxseed or almonds and when I need more than that...almond milk. I allow for Lindt's dark choco once in a while. NOT daily.

I'm working on stress and sleep and have been reading the latest dialogues about whether Taylor's program is a true reversal or just remission or not (I want hope - so I'm hoping for reversal!). I'm 5 years diabetic right now, and my last tests were normal, but one day my blood sugar was measured at 13!!! Argh. I haven't bought a tester, but maybe should.

One step into it again, and again. Educating myself. Glad to be back in the community.

Cheers,
Moi.

I think the most important bit of kit you can get is a bs meter .. Without it how would you know what is affecting your blood sugars .. I would personally avoid the foods in low fat ..like lean cuisine ..as when they take away the fat they increase the sugars. Also if your going low carb you need the fat for energey .. After 2 years of high fat and 20g of carbs a day..I am in remission... Also in that time lost 5st ...
If your blood tests are coming in as normal non diabetic range ..then just keep an eye on what your eating with regular testing bs, and you should be fine

Edit to add ... Your profile is showing T1 ..you may want to change this as you say you are T2 :)

Thank you. Will do and will look at these options. I'm desperate to lose weight, but I've rebounded 3 or 4 times, so my starting strategy is to try and ease into a new lifestyle. But points taken.

Welcome back. I have been doing LCHF and I have been technically non diabetic for a year now but Im under no illusion that it is reversed, once a diabetic always a diabetic. I have just started doing 18/6 Intermittent Fasting as well which is actually a lot easier than you would think. Have you thought of cooking extra portions and freezing them for when you are too tired to cook as it would he better for you. If I am making hamburger patties or stuffed chicken breasts ect I always do extra and I always have LC baking in the freezer as well along with slices of LC bread so if I feel like.something I can easily grab it and I know it is good for me.

Hmmmm. Thanks for that. That is a question on my mind, really: reversing vs. just...delaying/inhibiting.

Re. freezing, I welcome more input on this, because I have noticed that some food frozen just is not tasting good. Tips re. what freezes well and what does not? Thank you.

When you say 18/6 fasting...what do you mean? Hours per day? Days eating and days fasting?

Cheers.

Personally Im in it for life, LCHF all the way and if I slip up here or there my body lets me know its not ok, my breathing packs up, cheat pains, stomach cramps, feeling like an elephant is sitting on my head and feeling totally awful and all from just eating what everyone else in the family eats for a day or two. In regard to freezing, I regularly make Light Almond Bread, slice it and freeze the slices individually, oopsie rolls are frozen in twos, I will make extra hamburger patties and bacon wrapped chicken breasts which are frozen raw but they are still quick and easy to grab out after a busy day, it just takes the prep work out of it. I also always have some LC baking in the freezer like cheesecake, muffins or a cheesecake slice and I find everything still tastes good when thawed. I only have three main ways I do my veges, roasted in butter, steamed with a LC cheese sauce or done in rhe microwave with cream so I just try and keep it simple all round. With the fasting I try to eat my dinner by 7pm, I will have a coffee and cream in the morning and one at lunch time, I then.eat my lunch at 1pm and dinner by 7pm.

Thank you for sharing. Cheesecake? Do you have a healthy recipe?
