as from my previous posts the dr lowered my lantus and took me off metformin as i was throwing some nasty hypos,since then my bloods have been rising today i was 6.8 b4 breakfast,hr later out of nowhere i was 1.7,took 2 lucozade tabs n then dinner n tea is sky high.,these are my readings since friday,if someone can look and give me a clue as what to say wen i see gp in a couple of days id be so grateful im now on lantus 20 units and to lower to 18 if i hypo again,readings are fri..7.9,11.2,8.3,15.3, sat 7.0,10.4,4.7,9.3,sun 5.6,13.2,8.6,9.0today 6.8,1.7,13.0,11.7,im on a lowish carb diet and im worried im being left with bloods like this,any advice? :|

Hi

I think I can see what's happening to you. Lantus unfortunately doesn't last for a full 24 hours like most people think so that's why yr bg levels have started to elevate from lunchtime onwards as the metformin has now vanished from your system (it takes a few days). You might be better to use another small dose of lantus in the morning (how much I dont know) in order to provide better coverage of your insulin needs or think about using some fast acting insulin if lantus on its own doesnt work very well.
