Had an appointment today at a different hospital to discuss going on a pump, and although I need to spend the next six months prooving I can record my data, I have been added to the list with a view to starting on a pump early next year.

I am so excited and feel the most positive I have EVER felt about having diabetes. I appreciate it will be hard work and I am prepared for that, I just want better control. At 10.5 HbA1C I know I have to do something.....

Thanks for listening.

Hi,

great news!!

I too had to prove myself, Learn to carb count, show i could carb count, keep a diary of at least 4 tests a day, attend every appointment and show at least a small decrease in hba1c.

It took me around 18months after first enquiring to get a pump, this was mainly due to the pump nurse at my hospital being off sick a while, so really it could have been just under a years wait.

It's great it's enabled you to be positive. the lowest my hba1c was on injections was 8.4% the highest was 16.1%, after pumping for 2 months it went down to 7.2% something i never thought i'd see!

Having a pump definately has motivated me like i couldn't imagine.

Good luck for when your turn arrives, i'm sure you'll be back to ask many questions. the pump forum is becoming more and more popular now more and more people are being successful in obtaining one.

:)
