I have been T2 for about 15 years now and has always have issues with what to eat especially dinner.
My dinner normally pasta, yam, green banana, potatoes, dumplings, soup, fish, chicken and on rare occasions red meat. As you can see most of the above are either classed as bad or very bad carbs.
What do you people normally have for dinner?
My BS range from 7.2 to 12. And I need to reduce it.
Thanks

Meat fish chicken are all fine.. eggs and bacon too. Just have those with some green veg rather than tubers or root veg.I have been T2 for about 15 years now and has always have issues with what to eat especially dinner.

Sorry Chook, typing at the same time, I think.
Courgette slices are a good substitute for leeks too. But good old steak and a fried egg are also excellent.I had a beef lasagne made with leeks instead of pasta with a cheese topping.
I generally eat meat just twice a week, rest of the week vegetables in some form or another. Now it has been proven dairy is a big contributor to Diabetes, especially Non Icelandic cows milk. I'd say avoid Dairy and eat the other stuff sensibly.
On another note, people can get Type 2 through bad food habits in their life. So if you continue eating the food that may have caused your Type 2, then things won't get better.

I'm trying to keep to a moderate level of low carb. Been 2TD nearly 20yrs on tabs. It's the heavy carbs to steer clear of, so I hardly eat potatoes or bread/rice and gave up bananas a long time ago (they've loads of sugar and v high GI). I like the advice given on the DUK lc diet, start by keeping to 25% or less carbs on your plate, so will have v small amounts of rice/pasta/ potatoes. Takes a while to adjust, especially as NHS have advised carb based diet for yrs. It certainly does keep the weight down. Am having other veg with my meat/fish dinners, root veg, eg carrots/parsips/celariac are carb but less than the ones mentioned. Salad's always useful. When I have my piece of toast at lunch, I really enjoy it. If out for dinner I let myself off the hook a bit, but make v conscious choices as to when, what I indulge in.
For very many of us on here, 25% carb on the plate would be very high , unless that was above ground vegetables . have you investigated if you need insulin without the carbs?
