Hello

Wondering if anyone out there has the same Blood Sugar patterns as myself?

Before I was diagnosed Type 2, I was told I had Impaired Fasting Glycaemia. It was the Fasting Blood Glucose result that came back too high. When given a GTT, the fasting level was diabetic, but the result after the glucose drink was ok.(borderline).

Now I am officially Type 2 but fairly well controlled. However it is still my fasting levels that I have most trouble with. I am beginning to see a pattern emerging and I wonder if anyone else experiences this. I can be under 7.8 mmol/L within 2 hours of eating, all going well. However, if I test an hour later, after not having consumed anything except maybe a glass of water, and after being active - my blood sugar can often have risen a little bit..... Keeping me in the 7 s rather than continuing to fall.

This doesn't happen every time, but can happen often.

I am guessing it is something to do with my liver releasing stores when in fact that is unnecessary. I must add here, I live a very active life - I teach Yoga and run a small holding looking after livestock. I rarely sit down! And I am slim.

I am starting to wonder if I should be eating little bits and bobs a little more often - but I am trying very hard to only eat once I have dropped into the 6s. Obviously, spending a long time in the 7s is not desirable or healthy.

If I do decide to eat again before I drop under 7, I then experience normal behaviour.... Ie a good post prandial result followed by a continuing drop into the 6 s.

Oh yes, and my overnight fasting results are always lower if I have a small glass of milk and half an oatcake before bed.

Can anyone give me any advice here? I would appreciate it.

My diet is low ish carb, but not LCHF.

Cheers x
