Impaired kidney function?

So it's been many years since I read active on here, my control these days is fairly good, improved since using the Libre system.

I got high blood pressure a few years ago and am on Losartan and Indapamide.

Had a call from the docs to go in as my iron levels were down, when I got there she also told me my kidney function is slightly impaired (51 eGFR and she said it should be about 60 at my age)

She's told me to stop the indampide as that can apparently damage kidneys, she wants to do some samples and blood tests to look for blood loss to explain the iron readings.

My sense is that it's actually kidney disease, I'm wondering what experiences people have had and what kind of treatments I can expect?

I don't yet know how quickly my kidneys are degrading I guess these tests will offer some insight.

I'm not panicking as I assume this is a long term management thing, but I'm (only!!!) 50 so just trying to figure it what the future holds...
