So... Having been diagnosed with diabetes so far has not been a bad thing, apart from the finger pricking and injections and carb counting!! Things are pretty much back to normal. However, apart from working out how many carbs are in my food before I eat a meal so I can bolus appropriately, I've really not changed anything... As far as I'm concerned this is a good thing, and according to my BG readings I'm not doing anything wrong (6.3 mmol/l average for the past 30 days, not had a single reading > 11 or < 3.3, average deviation +- 1.3). There are days when I seriously doubt that there is anything actually wrong with me & I'm testing/injecting for nothing!! I'm more likely to be low than high. Is this because it's new & I'm still honeymooning?

There are several possibilities, you didn't reveal how many carbs you are eating so we don't know what's normal for you.

The honeymoon effect is important but your activity levels, the temperature, and the type of food you are eating will also need to be taken into account.

OK, I'm not low carb... I estimate I eat 200g+ of carbs a day, which seems to be about 5x more than most people on here! I have a sedentary job but over compensate by having a hectic exercise regime involving running, weight based training, circuits, cycling etc. most days for 1 to 2 hours. My basal is lantus, 10 units at night, fasting blood sugar is always around 5 so I think that's OK. & I bolus 1 unit per 10g carbs mostly although I think this may need adjusting depending on my exercise as I currently eat more to compensate instead

Sounds like your doing great @Samblease73 :)

Just keep doing what you are doing but don't relax on the bg testing, the reason being is you need to keep focussed in case things change, type 1 diabetes can sometimes catch you out when you least expect it.
