However from personal experience exercise helps me to feel fitter, but not necessarily lighter! In my case it is predominantly walking and bike riding. Walking about 20 miles per week, and when the weather permits, cycling for around two to three hour a week.

I had such a free trial but they wouldn’t / couldn’t continue it.The NHS already recommend this and have done for a generation. It's called 'eat less move more'.
Seriously, trials of free introductory sessions at gyms, sports centres etc have been prescribed by doctors for a while but as Tim Noakes would say "You can't outrun a bad diet".

Yes, I can see that slant in the reporting, also I note that they sent the guy to West Ham United and they could have done better with that.According to what I read this morning, it is intended as more of a social help than medical. For the elderly, lonely, bereaved and so on. It includes suggestions such as ballroom dancing classes, art classes, and similar. Less to do with exercise, more to do with mental health.
