Hey!

Everytime I have had an infection my sugars have gone up... 1 month ago I had quite a bad Kidney infection (and my sugars predictably went up) ever since I finished the antibiotics I haven't felt "right" but my sugars have settled down...

Over the last few days ive started getting feverish with some pain in my back and loss of appetite (not good when ive had insulin for a sandwich and only 1/2 way through I go off it  ) so goes back to the docs today... I have another kidney infection :(

This has suprised me as my sugars are normal and havent raised as per normal for an infection... does this happen to others?

All type 1's will experience a rise in bg when ill and fighting infections so just keep an eye on your bg and correct where necessary.

I've not had a kidney infection so really can't offer any advise, hope the infection clears up soon and those bg numbers return to normal! :)

Hi
I am a type 1 on insulin and metformin. A few years ago i kept getting kidney infections in the end i had to see a specialist and was put on low dose of antibiotic for a few months which eventually helped. It may be worth asking your doctor to refer you to a kidney specialist.
Hope all goes well.
Take care
Tracey
