Yes, definitely, any 'newbie' should be given this website address when diagnosed, lots of helpful advice and support on here. Today, i got 2 consecutive BG's under 6. Fasting was 5.7 and evening before dinner was 4.8 . never got this level before and have the option of going back to 40mg of glicazide if goes too low.thumbless1 said:Read this with interest, see the best thing you did was come on to the forum.
I was diagnosed T2 3 weeks ago and going through the same learning curve.
Best thing i found was to get advice/support from other diabetics.
The fact that you have helpfull medical advice is a bonus.
All the best.

Thing is she said i had to inform DLA of me taking Glicazide because of the danger of hypo's, any body had this problem of hypo's with this med, regards, manogwent

Manogwent said:Hi, trinkwasser, am carrying dextrose tabs with me when back and fore to work and in work. Got home tonight and i was 4.4 and eating at 7pm. saw dietitian today and wasn't very useful, just gave the party line about Type 2's shouldn't be testing as they cant do anything about high levels, not like Type 1's with insulin, i just said i needed to know when i didn't need to make my levels worse by eating carbs when i was over 8 in the am. i still eat some carbs but nowhere near the level before i was DX in november. she seemed to think 8 was ok and i mentioned complications which she said existed but lot of mythology about eating carbs and testing and losing your feet and going blind. a little infuriating to say the least especially after seeing some of the posts on here. eventually i said i needed to get back to work and would carry on the good work I had done so far, don't think i need another appt though!!
And she was a student !! seems this is what the new crop of dietitians are pushing at us!! no wonder there is an epidemic of complications heading our way if we stuck to what they preached at us. Thankfully there are people around who can give us some alternatives.Trinkwasser said:MYTHOLOGY?????

Manogwent said:[on a positive note i just had my first fasting BG of 5.2 , am i pleased? Yeeeeees!! during day i hit 4's and 5's, admittedly not a lot to eat ( from my point of view , others may feel otherwise ) but seems i can eat some carbs, wholegrain, without too much effect.
