Hello @LJE54 and welcome to the forum. I had this kind of a reaction to some insulin, and as @Antje77 suggests, I'd talk to your HCP and ask to try a different insulin.I have recently started injecting insulin but seem to have developed a reaction, my skin becomes red and inflamed and extremely itchy. I use Humulin M3. This is my second type of insulin as I got the same reaction previously.Hi,

I use Humulin M3Hi,

I saw my HCP today and unfortunately they were unable to come up with a solution at this time.Hi @LJE54 ,
It is possible to be allergic to some insulins or more specific, the additives to thi insulin.
While it is normal for some insulins to cause a bit of a burning sensation upon injecting, it's defiitely not normal for the skin to become red and very itchy.
There are many different brands of insulin so I would take this up with your HCP to see about trying a different brand, or maybe talk to an allergy doctor.
Humulin M3 is a mixed insulin (both long acting and short acting mixed together). It could be worth discussing trying two separate insulins instead. There are many different brands. Most people with a reaction to insulin aren't allergic to the insulin itself but to the extra things put in to make it act as intended.I use Humulin M3. This is my second type of insulin as I got the same reaction previously.
Just a thought.I use Humulin M3. This is my second type of insulin as I got the same reaction previously.
