Ive been using the 8mm needles to inject with and it was pain free but yesterday I was changed to the 4mm needle and now every time I inject it really stings. Does anyone know why this would happen?
It may be the needle is too short. The insulin needs to be injected into fatty part of the body try another location I tend to use the buttock or putter top part of the leg where it's naturally fattier. Make sure you pinch the skin / fatty part so you make sure there is fatty part not the muscle.
Hope this helps.
Stick with 4mm, depending on your size anything more and you could be hitting muscle (very bad) where are you injecting? there is no such thing as a needle being too short! also change the needle EVERY TIME! cant stress this enough.
I always change the needle ive seen the pictures of what a needle looks like when reused its scary. I inject in my thigh and tummy and change the site with every injection maybe im putting the needle in too fast. The 4mm are definitely working as my levels have been great today.

Shouldn't make a difference, just make sure you inject the insulin straight into the skin and don't angle the pen as previously suggested with longer needle's, I find if I push the insulin in too fast it can sting a little so go easy with the plunger.
I was pushed on to 4mm needles by my doc a few months ago and i'm now coverd in surface bruises around my injection sight.... i'm going back next week to be put back on to 8mm needles..
