This might not be the right place for this question but I need some advice.

I think I might have broken one of my toes. Is it worth going to A&E? Doesn't hurt to walk on but started to go purple on the top about half hour after I did it. Feels a bit throbby now (4 hours later). Don't want to rock up at A&E tomorrow morning and get laughed at for being a hypochondriac if there's not really anything they can do :)

Unless it's your big toe. There is nothing they can do, even the old red hot paperclip into the black nail to get rid of the pressure/pain isn't a good idea for a diabetic if there are any healing probs
Keep shoes on so it doesn't heal at a funny angle

That's what I thought. Unfortunately I've got to walk around Legoland all day on Wednesday and was hoping to go in flip flops as it's going to be a hot day. Think I might need to invest in some decent trainers instead. That'll smell nice by the end of the day

My advice is to go to A&E and get it looked at, I'm still suffering with a big toe that I injured over a year ago dropping something on it and didn't go to A&E, instead waited a few weeks to see the podiatrist. Nail had to come off and stay bandaged up for weeks. They hummed and haaed over whether to xray or not as it was suspected broken.. in the end they decided not to as it had been going on for so long. I now have very little sensation in that toe and get shooting pains in it and limited movement.

Go get it seen to and set your mind at rest one way or the other as it what's up with it. Good luck.

I compromised and saw Dr this morning. Definitely broken but at least not misaligned so no problem. He said I was right to pop in but best thing to do is leave it alone. Strapping it to the next toe would only cause them to rub skin off each other and possibly get infected whoch would just be yuk :p

Oh dear, that's a shame about the toe :(

To be honest noblehead I'm secretly quite pleased. It was a football collision with my 16 yr old stepson that I can now hold over him for the test of his life mwahahaha (evil laugh time)

Hi,you have done the right thing and got it looked at, if you go to LEGOLAND just be extra careful with other visitors( queuing up, stepping back, not looking where they are stepping, excitable children running around) and your poorly toe will need a bit of protection and some TLC at the end of the day.:inpain:
Enjoy yourself and just take care.

Hope it heals soon for you. Take care!

Just a quick update. I found a great way to stop the pain of the broken toe. I had an unfortunate incident with a rope swing on the local woods and have now dislocated and fractured the ankle as well. Funnily enough I haven't really noticed the toe pain anymore. Morphine is marvellous
