Insulin Doesn't Inject Properly

Lately, often, my background insulin injections seem to build up pressure in the pen and then just squirt out once I've removed the needle. I've tried alternate areas but have similar problem I'm injecting 23 units of Semglee U100 x2 locations (46U total) in the evening. I've been injecting for 50 yrs now and have never had this problem.
Any others experience this?

Only very rarely. For me it seems like the insulin has got stuck in a pocket below the skin - if I can stick my finger on fast enough to stop it coming out I can feel the lump and give it a rub to make it absorb (and stop too much coming out!)

I must admit I've not had this for quite some time though. Back when I was on mix your own + syringes with much larger single injections (up to 50U at a single go when I was a young teenager) it was more troublesome and then I'd just leave the syringe in place for a little while until more would go in, or pull it out and stick the remainder in elsewhere.

Could it be a faulty pen? Do you have a spare one you could try? Failing that, does the same thing happen if you 'inject' at the same angle into the air?
