When the dispute linking Lantus with cancer was under discusion June /July 2009 I changed to an equivalent basal insulin manufactured by Novo--.
The insulin is called Levemir, and I find it much improved the Hba1C results.
I personally have no complaints with Levemir at all, and consider it superior to Lantus.
For your reference my dosage is 36 units of Levemir per day supplemented with 8to 10 units of Novo Rapid with each main meal approx three times a day.
If I work hard during the day or engage in sports the lunch time dosage is reduced to 3 or 4 units.
