Insulin leakage from needle/injection site. Help!!!

Hi
I inject my 8 year old daughter (newly diagnosed :( )twice a day with novamix flexpens. I always hold the pen dead straight when injecting, insert slowly, and wait for about 10 seconds. However, when I take out the pen, I have noticed, at times, that there is insulin on the site of injection and a tiny bubble of insulin comes out on the pen. I always squirt out a couple of units to get rid of air bubbles before I inject. Worried that I am losing insulin. Am I injecting correctly?
Thanks for all replies. :)

hya,
this has always happened to me too, however long i leave the needle in it leaks a bit on removal, there was a thread recently on here with others having the same problem :)

yes, I just noticed, thanks. My daughter had some great readings today, and then out the blue tonight she was 19.3 . if I am only injecting four units, and there is some on site/needle, she could in theory not be getting all her insulin. I just gave her a unit of novarapid before going to bed, but same thing happened. So, don't know again whether she has enough insulin. Is it right to hold the pen dead straight?

Thanks Graham.

Reading the thread, helps to know others have had this problems, as thought it was just my fault, but still wonder if i can prevent it from happening. Maybe I will need to talk to her nurse/consultant. Well, the one unit of insulin, must have gone in as just tested her 1.5 hrs after being 19.3 and she is 13.3. I won't give her anymore, as she is sleeping, hopefully, it will keep going down. So maybe, even if a little comes out of needle, maybe the dialled up dose actually goes in.
