Hi

Does anyone else get severe lumps from injecting? I have reallybad lumps on my stomach, which even sometimes cause a resistance when I inject (causes the injection to stop working and have to take it out and start over again!) Have tried swapping sights but it gets worse! Any suggestions or help would be appreciated!

Hello diabeticgem.

What insulin are you using levemir? lanctus? humalog?
If you 'are' using levemir - it can cause lipos site lumps.
They are usually red , raised, hot/warm on touch can be very tender both
under and on top of the skin.
They can vary in size too .

Have you been shown an injecting technique you actually feel confident with doing yourself ?
Some DSN's say pinch the skin in a fold others say put a finger either side and straight in with the needle.
What size needles are you currently using?
Some people like the smaller ones 5mm or 4mm .
Others prefer the larger ones.

If you 'are' using levemir insulin in the packaging manufacters leaflet there is a section on this.
Some people can have an allergy to the preservative in the insulin.
I did and the site lumping areas were large spread causing me a alot of pain and discomfort.
So I had to change to an animal insulin.

Hope this helps.
Anna.

HI, IVE BEEN INJECTING 3 TIMES A DAY NOW FOR 5 YEARS I ALSO HAD LUMPS GOT TO GRIPS WITH IT .HOW ? WELL ITS VERY SIMPLE IT WAS CLEAR TO ME 1 SLEEPLESS NIGHT, WHAT I WAS DOING TO GET IT OVER WITH WAS PUSHING THE PLUNGER DOWN AT THE SPEED OF CONCORDE, SO SLOW IT DOWN AND WHEN YOU REMOVE THE NEEDLE PLACE YOUR FINGER (CLEAN) AND MASSAGE IN A CIRCLE AT THE SAME TIME AS PUSHING GENTLY THIS HELPS TO DISPERSE THE INSULIN ALSO GETS RID OF ANY LUMPS ALREADY FORMED IT TOOK ME 3 WEEKS TO GET MINE AWAY
GOOD LUCK
