Insulin makes no difference

I have type 2, not well controlled. I.m currently on chemo for stage 4 colon cancer and was put on insulin. I started on 10 units am and 5 pm. Increasing it over time I was on 40 and 20 two days ago. Whatever the insulin dose, my blood glucose remained between 10 and 20 mmol (average 14).
Being naughty, I haven't taken insulin for 3 days. This has had no noticeable effect on my blood glucose, which has remained at between 10 and 15 mmol for the past few days.
Something else must be happening. 60 units of insulin or none have the same measured outcomes.
Any clues?

I think it would be wiser to take the insulin and see your health care provider as soon as practicably possible.
Without trying to scare you, bg levels do not necessarily have to sky rocket in the event of DKA. Do you measure ketones at all?

Please see your GP or conultant as soon as you can. All the best for a full and speedy recovery.
