Does anyone have a written statement from their doctor of insulin protocol? I’m on holiday with a different care team doing my medication and it seems I’m lacking this legal document for them to administer my insulin, apparently my MARs from home stating my am and pm units isn’t good enough. (They’ve still been giving me it anyway) I was wondering if anyone else has this in place, I’ve always worked on a verbal agreement with my diabetic nurse who confirmed verbally to my care staff at home what the new dose was. I’m on 2 set doses, 40 and 12 units, at set times, before breakfast and before evening meal respectively, so it’s not complicated.

I was given an “insulin passport” with space to fill in doses medical info etc. Not aware that it’s legally binding in any way though.

Thank you @Diakat for taking the time to reply.

I took the time to consult with Dr Google today and I found hospital insulin protocol, insulin protocol for ICU, protocol for pumping insulin. Protocol for prescribing insulin, and I’m sure a ton of insulin protocol for scientific studies/research. But I couldn’t find anything that would lend itself to this environment.

I don’t think I will worry, I’m still getting insulin and they are going to try getting it through the local doctors surgery. They can do what they like so long as I get my insulin.
