Hi, I've been type 1 now for 13 years. I've always used injections but now I want to try the pump as I think it will help my control. But, I work in mental health hospital and am at risk of being injured, and also spend time 'restraining' I'm just wondering if there is anyone who can offer and advice as to whether a pump would be a good idea, and suitable. Thanks, Rachel

Hi Rachel,

I am bumping your post up so that others may reply.

I work with acutely disturbed patients and am aware that you can be attacked prior to any control and restraint being put into practice. Considering my experiences, I would be dubious.
If it was me I would have a talk with my Ward Manager to see how he/she feels. The last thing you want to happen is to be treated differently than other staff.

Good luck with the nursing, it is a challenging but rewarding career.
