Hi All, I am new to this forum as I only rec'd my pump a month ago. Previous to this I was on Novarapid and Levimer as 2 years ago I suffred a Grand Mal Seizure. Since then my blood sugar readings have not been great even though I have been doing everything by the book, counting carbs and giving appropriate amount of insluin. It was thought an Insluin Pump would stabilise the sugars and hopefully end any seizures. Since being on the inslulin pump for the last 4 weeks i have noticed a great improvement in blood sugar levels but out of the blue on Thursday i took another seizure. When i tested my blood sugar afterwards it was 10.4 so i don't understand how this happened. When i had the Grand Mal seizure one of the blood tests showed i was low on Magnesium and had to give me Magnesium via a drip. I was just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences and would be interested to hear what treatment was given.

Hi Paul,
welcome to the forum.
Sorry to hear of your problems, I found this link http://www.ancient-minerals.com/magnesi ... oms-signs/ on low mag.
You say you tested your blood sugar after the seizure and it was 10.4. Did anyone test you at the time of the seizure to see if a low blood sugar was the cause of your problem?

Many thanks for your reply, unfortunately i did'nt have my blood sugar tested during my seizure. It would not have surprised me if my blood sugars had have gone low. I appreciated your web link re Magnesium. I read the information on the web site and it is relevant to what I have been experiencing. I will print the information out and show my Diabetes team and see where we go from here. How is your diabetes treatement going?

Hi Paul,
glad the info was helpful. It just shows though not everything is diabetes related which is what I was trying to point out.
Does your clinic have a cgm you can use for a while so you can see what is happening? This may through some light on to things for you.
I'm doing OK ta, been pumping for 5 years now and the quality of life is amazing compared to injections. Next year I start year 48 on insulin and touch wood no complications so far.
