Insulin pump

Since being on the insulin pump my hypo awareness has improved tremendously . My warnings are much easier to diagnose , from when I was on the injections . I Was wondering if anybody else thought the same .
 
I have only been on mine 15 days so to early to say just yet
 
Accu-Chek Insight find the handset useful with work
 
i've had to come of my pump till january as the doctors didn't want me on it over christmas as i've just been put on one.
Only reason was because my inserter broke they didn't have a spare but lucky me i got 2 here incase it happens again.
I am also on the insight but second handset and pump as first one was errors/broke

with hypos i found them to be alot better feelings when i was having them on the pump =.=

Haha they were meant to give me another one and haven't even set up our accs yet :[

@Dashing don't think they will have with me yet but will try and see what they say
 
Sometimes insulin doesn't get threw the lancet or transfusion kit and you think you are getting the right amount of insulin when your not getting any . There is no warning and your sugar levels just go higher and higher , there should be a warning to let you know when your not getting the amount you need
 
There is a warning for when certain blockages occur... But these can be picked up a lot quicker by regular testing than waiting for the occlusion dinger to srt you.

Hypo's were easier to sense for me because the hypo'swere gradual in their onset... Not alwayspossible like that with pens and MDI.

Happily I am still glad that the improved awareness and strength of hypo's has remained since coming off the pump for 7months now. The 5 years on it certainly gave less severe hypo's but this stillremains despite being back on MDI..

A spare what? You must have a spare inserter if you are using one and you really ought to ask them to provide a spare expert 1/2 unit meter and always keep that up to date with profiles and make sure you have spare 1/2 unit pens as back up too. Accuchek provided me with spare inserters and 1/2 unit meter as a back up ok. Pens or injections are good as back up.. I had injections if I neded to and just bolused every 5 hours if my pump broke (which it did). Trouble is when I decided to go back to MDI my actual pens were 5 years old and had actually been withdrawn!! So I had to get mew ones-thankfully the 1/2 unit ones quickly!
 
P.s what would happen if my account is not set up as of yet? I had to call this morning as the handset had an electrical fault code and they just asked for the handsets serial number and the fault was a damp test strip, do not know how it was damp to be honest though (apart from the blood on it)

Well that is good news

I can't say I've noticed a difference in hypo awareness but I've always had good awareness anyway, however I do get fewer hypo's since starting on a pump so that's a plus.

Yes and no..

Yes I wanted to come off because it was getting too erractic with occlusions supposedly because I am too lean and no fat.

No because previously I had really, really good levels with my pump.

Now 7 months on I will not go back to pump. I love the freedom off it and my levels are really just as good thanks to two very special guys on here who helped me back on to MDI again. My levels remain good, really good.

The only downside is that I have twice forgotten my night basal injection due to strong other meds I am on. I have to do injection before the meds otherwise my brain is addled... If I had been on pump it would have still given me my basal....

The other thing I am glad of is that as I have had to have a mastectomy hen I would have been limited to only wearing my pump on one arm and using one bum cheek and that would have been impossible for me. I loved wearing the pump on my arm and would not have worn it anywhere else.

I have just as good control on MDI providing I'm not on a hospital ward!!! My hypo's are still mild if I have them. Guaranteed now if I get a high reading its because of my own stupidity ietaking my other meds in the wrong order to my injections.
 
I'm very pleased your control is good now your off the pump . The annoying thing I find with the pump is when it falls out my pocket and I your not aware it's a shock
