Hello everybody.
I have been type 1 for nearly 10 years now, and after doing dafne in December, I have asked about going on to an insulin pump.
So my question to you guys is.... what are the pros and cons of the insulin pump you currently have?

Your help will be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Pros - ability to change the basal for different times of the day and exercise
Cons - bulky to have attached to me at all times and more paraphernalia to take with me on trips.

I have the Animas Vibe ... which is no longer available and expect it to be changed to the Medtronic 640G in the next 3 or 4 months. The only choice I have is that pump or no pump.
The Animas and the Medtronic are both tubey pumps. The tube has never been a problem.

Thanks for the reply, I hope I have a choice.
I'm presuming that with the Medtronic it has to be disconnected for swimming? (Excuse my ignorance, I don't know to much about pumps).

It is usual to disconnect for swimming, showering, massage, etc.
If I am disconnected for longer than 30 minutes, I give myself a little insulin top up to make up for the missing basal.
You will get used to it.
