:( please can anyone tell me if insulin pumps are available for type 2 diabetics as i havent taken any insulin since oct 2010 as i cant handle all the injection and think a pump would be better as you only change needle every couple of days please help.

Hi,

I have read somewhere in the past that an extremely small amount of Type 2's which use insulin have a pump. I also read that they were all under the same consultant too.

The only way to be sure is to ask your consultant or specialist.

If you plan to enquire i would definately build up reasons why you would benefit from a pump.

sometimes it's very hard for a Type 1 to get funding for a pump so unfortunately i think you would have to fight to get one.

I don't believe that you should have to be type 1 to qualify for a pump, i think it should be insulin users of any type..

I wish you all the best though, feel free to ask anything you like about pumps :)

The prices range around £2000-£3000.

I'm not sure where you live but in the UK i'm pretty certain you can only purchase the consumables through a PCT.

May be worth looking into further if it's something you are able to afford though.
