To use or not to use?!!
Has been suggested to me by the Specialist today but find the idea a bit daunting.
Is the main idea really that it takes away the actual injection because I presume you still have to test yourself and administer the pre-meal dose.
So is it worth it?
Any thoughts?

my son loves his pump it has been the best choice we have ever made, we struggled to get control but with the pump it can give such precise amounts of insulin we have found control easier to get having said that the pump is no easy option there is so much work involved but when u crack it it is so worth it.

the pump doesnt suit everyone so consider the pros and cons read anything u can before ur decision only u can decide if u think the pump will work for u. as for the testing i would say we test more being on the pump but we also have better control of dylans diabetes so its def worth the work. i dont think in having the pump it takes the injection away as u have to do site changes every 2 to 3 days but we find it easier.

good luck in making ur decision

You can be more precise with bolus insulin but for me the most important part about having a pump is the ability to vary my basal according to what I'm doing.

My basal rates vary from 0,4u per hour to 0.6u for hour but when I'm exercising I can reduce it to a trickle. Yesterday afternoon I went for a 10km walk, I used a 50% reduction of basal so very little. Pre pump I would have had difficulty keeping my glucose levels high enough, yesterday afternoon I managed on just 1 dextrose tablet about 20min from the end. Today, it's miserable outside and I've had a sedetary day, I will probably raise my basal slightly overnight to avoid a rise overnight. (I make use of a different 'pattern I've worked out for lazy days)
