I have recently been diagnosed with pre diabetes. I have been reading quite a bit on the subject and have become interested in insulin resistance - that is how insulin resistant am I.

Does anyone know what test is used?
Is it available on the NHS - that is can I ask my doctor for it?
If not on the NHS - any ideas on how to go about it?

Thank you

I doubt the NHS would fund an insulin resistance test for pre-diabetics ... how would it change the treatment ?
If you are pre-diabetic reducing carbs is likely to go a long way to halting and reversing further development to diabetes.

Thank you for your reply and encouragement.

It was just that I had been reading about the importance of finding out about how insulin resistant you are. It was not necessarily about changing the treatment but more from a knowledge base point of view.

I believe you want a fasting insulin test. If your number is high you are insulin resistant.
