Insulin Site problem.

I test at least 6 times a day + and I have made some changes to my basal yesterday because I was a bit low but I noticed that my BG was rising far too quickly .
I had been doing some decorating and felt that my infusion site was a bit sore and that night it was getting
very sore . BG now up to 13.at 8pm..so I gave myself 2 units by syringe and changed the infusion set and a new site.. by 11 pm I was down to BG 10.so I went to bed using the pump wizard to do the rest .
I woke this morning with a BG of 4.8.
I think that the infusion set must of been pulled out a bit whilst working.
Today I am fine BG now 5.4

A sore or uncomfortable site is a sure sign that insulin will not go in properly.. And you should change it straight away.

I can feel mine not going to be good just by pricking my skin with the needle nowadays. If i feel the prick of the cannula needle on my skin then I move it to a slightly different place.

Confession: I leave 2 sets removed (but glue still visible) on my skin to make sure I don't use the same place by accident. On my 3rd set on my left cheek say, I will wipe off the glue. Because the next set will go into my right bum cheek and vice versa.

I only use my bum cheeks and have done so for 30+ years only using my legs if in public restaurants for injections. Can't wear sets in legs or stomach as too slim and muscly.
 
A simple solution is to put a bit of tape on the tubing a couple of cm's up from the connection. Thus no pull on the cannula and the tape takes the strain if you drop the pump or catch the tubing in a doorway. Also saves the NHS £10 for a wasted cannula

I know... A raving diabetic, glue stuck bum, looney..!!

As others well know here, even accuchek have photos of my beautiful bum...and its been posted here a few times!

Do rub the glue off though and then massage coconut oil in it....

Now tgeres a thought, eh?
