Yes Type 2 diabetes seems to have a hereditary component, but unlike Type 1, I have never heard of it being an autoimmune problem.
Do you have a link to a medical study or text about this?
In my case Type 2 certainly was caused by lifestyle, however the lifestyle choice causing it was the NHS advice promoting the EatWell plate - all that Low Fat, High Carb, lots of fruit and 'healthy' whole grains stuff. Even when diagnosed with Type 2 they said mor of the same - as if eating foods which raise blood glucose so much and pushed me into diabetes in the first place was suddenly going to have the reverse effect!
