This is a question for all the type 1 diabetics out there.when getting novorapid insulin from the pharmacy, how many packets of insulin cartridges to users receive.i started out with 3 packets when I was diagnosed 19 years ago, then it was down to 2,now I only get 1 packet of insulin cartridges with my prescription,is everyone the same
I don't use Novorapid insulin, but I'd suggest you contact your hospital diabetes team. They'll be able to write to your gp advising them of what to prescribe.
Everyone will get different amounts each month depending how much they use.
One package for each month. But it depends on the dose. How much insulin do you use per day? In theory, the amount of insulin you need should have grown because you've run out of time when your beta cells were still alive
I used to get 5 disposable pens, now I get 5 cartridges for an Echo pen (so I can adjust in 0.5 unit doses). I order some more when I start the last pack of 5 so don't get stressed about running out
Do the same with Levemir which I go through at a higher rate ... but still have not ended up on the last pen before stocks turn up.
