I have had C-peptide test done 3x and i can get it checked again but it will probably be the same results -Hi, I understand being T2, doing everything you can and still nothing seems to work. It’s good you are seeing an endo, ask for a C-Peptide test.
What is your diet like? Do you low carb?
I have not taken either of your insulins and I’m far from an expert but it makes no sense to me why basal insulin would impede basal insulin, weird.
The amount of insulin someone takes isn't relevant really. How many toujeo units do you take and when? Also how many units of fisap
This is exactly how it works!having asked the DN she told me to keep increasing
Hi thank youThe amount of insulin someone takes isn't relevant really.
Some people need only 10 units total, others need hundreds of units.
So the reply to this question won't tell us anything, the right dose is the dose that works for you.
@UsmanMo96 , finding the right dose takes time.
The only way to find out what is the right dose is by trial and error.
As a rule, people start at a relatively low dose which is titrated up until it works.
With your numbers, it looks like you haven't found the right dose yet.
It takes some patience, but better to go slow and safe than take too much and end up in a bad hypo.
This is exactly how it works!
The Fiasp acts quickly so you see the effect quickly.
The Toujeo acts slowly and you're still working at finding the right dose by increasing regularly.
Hi,Ante77
It tells me a lot when Usmanmo99 wrote " when I take both" that usmanmo99 is taking them together
As you said toujeo acts slowly, so let say 4
Units 4 times a day =16 should be taken in one go, as someone who has been taking toujeo for about 6 years now l take 20 units at bed
If you need the insulin you need the insulin.Hi thank you
I don't want to go to high in my insulin use as i'd gain weight which i don't need or want.
Your post appeared to be enquiring about splitting your basal…Jaylee
Please could point out the part in my post where I said amount of units to take. I was replying to Antje77 post I gave a sample of toujeo that should be given in one injection
Talk to your Diabetes team, I started eating less 1300 calories a day in Oct 22 and lost 14lbs in 3 months it was then supplemented by starting 1.2mg Victoza (meant to Ozempic but supplies interrupted last Dec) some side effects which dissipated after the first month. Was taking Humalog 200 at meal times totalling 120 units a day and Toujeo double star 40 units per day, since that time I have lost a further 16lbs and reduced my Humalog to 14 units 3 times a day 42 in total. If you need the insulin you need the insulin.
And it's not a given you'll gain weight on higher doses of insulin. I'm on relatively high doses (100 to 120 units of basal, plus bolus as needed) and I haven't gained weight. (Haven't lost any either, I'm still in the obese category.)
If you inject into areas close to each other then unpredictable things can happen.Hi, I understand being T2, doing everything you can and still nothing seems to work. It’s good you are seeing an endo, ask for a C-Peptide test.
