I was told by a doctor that they had withdrawn these Insulin Inhalers, He didn't say why just that they had been withdrawn.

I was working with th ambulance service saturday and on my radio i heard from a colleague that a girl had lost her insulin inhaler and all ambulance members should keep a lookout, Now i thought these was withdrawn????

Exubera

Unfortunately did get pulled because of its link to lung damage but obviously some of these inhalers are still being used until the inhaler powder runs out.

Hopefully, we are not too many more years away now from seeing Oral-lyn which looks like an asthma inhaler arrive in the UK. This will work through the cheek lining and will therefore prevent lung problems. A background insulin will still need to be injected though.

I know someone who uses an insulin inhaler and swears by it. It's not for me, and I think the uptake has been very low, the pharmaceutical companies have made a loss on it, and it may well not remain in production for much longer.
It's also absolutely huge by the way!

All the best,

fergus
