How difficult is it to get

Mortgage Protection
Life Insurance
Travel Insurance

Any info around this is most appreciated and companies you think i should speak to.

Is there a big difference if its Type 1 Vs Type 2 or if its Diet Vs Drug Vs Insulin controlled?
 
Go to an IFA for life and mortgage cover. They have access to underwriters and can do a health questionnaire with you to get an indication pre application of the loading. Typically at least 50%. there are threads on here about travel insurance I am sure. Without complications, it is usually reasonably priced.

I've never had any bother with any of the above. My life insurance premiums are slightly higher than my partner's, but not significantly so. Make sure you shop around. There are plenty of insurers out there, some who specialise in providing cover to those with pre-existing medical conditions.
 
As a type 1 I find that the premiums are raised according to how they see you as a risk, I do have life insurance and mortgage protection but it comes at a cost, you may find that as a type 2 the premiums may not change or just see a slight increase, the best advice is to shop around for insurance and don't take the first quote.
